Cara and me 3

Your Practitioner

Hi, my name is Hannelore and I am of Dutch origin. Already as a child, animals were my thing! Our family therefore included hamsters, rabbits, chickens and a lovely Dalmatian dog. My biggest love was horses, but unfortunately it was not possible to include that one into our family. Not surprisingly my dream was to become a Vet, however due to a restricted number of intake of students at the time I missed out on a placement. I ended up in a very different direction acquiring a cara en ik 2 newBachelor in Hotel Management and have worked in various industries and countries. In that period I have always been involved in horses where and when I could.

I immigrated to New Zealand in 2000 with my Kiwi husband and settled in Tauranga in the Bay of Plenty.

While living in New Zealand, my desire to work with animals came to the surface again and I also became more and more interested in Natural Therapies. I discovered Bowen therapy through a lady who did some Bowen moves on my husband’s frozen shoulder and the effect after only 10 minutes was amazing. So we went on to learn Bowen Therapy in 2004. At the same time I discovered the BOP College of Homeopathy and started a 4 year study with them in the same year. In 2010 I completed a Small Animal Bowen Therapy course. I am now a qualified Bowen Therapist for people and small animals and an Animal Homeopath.

As a result of my special love for horses and the fact that keeping one here in New Zealand is a lot more affordable, I was finally able to have one for myself, a lovely thoroughbred mare called Cara. I was not into competing, but we have made many hacks over farms and on the beach in the Bay of Plenty. I have been supporting and treating my own horse Cara1successfully with both Bowen Therapy and Homeopathy for various issues like lameness, conjunctivitis, itching skin and Avocado poisoning (see success stories on the Horse Care page). The last focus of treatment was on the arthritis in her left front knee. She was born in 1986, so coming of age. I was able to manage it naturally for a long time, but in March 2015 she hurt herself somehow and it got a lot worse. In the end the only way to manage the pain would be continuous heavy pain relief. I decided, supported by the Vet, that it was probably time for her to cross the rainbow bridge. She passed away peacefully in May 2015 at almost 29 years of age. I miss her dearly.
